The World Football League was a short-lived American football league that played in 1974 and part of 1975.Although this pro grid circuit's proclaimed ambition was to bring American football onto a worldwide stage, the farthest the WFL reached was placing a team – the Hawaiians – in Honolulu, Hawaii.The league folded partway into its second season, in 1975.
The 1974 season was the World Football League's 1st, and 14 teams competed in the league that year. The Birmingham Americans won the 1974 WFL championship.
